In late 2017, Claire Grace founded Show Compassion Foundation. One of the two missions of the foundation was an education initiative to teach how to show compassion to people with disabilities. This education initiative is what led to the development of the proactive SEE. STOP. START.™ approach. 

During the process of speaking to thousands, Claire realized that this message is globally applicable to perceived differences of any kind. Events in recent years have made this message is critical and timely.    

In 2020, the foundation restructured and adopted SEE. STOP. START.™ as the main focus of the organization's efforts and at that time began doing business as SEE. STOP. START.™. Since then, the organization has created elementary school curriculum and is working to create partnerships with businesses and organizations nationwide.

The mission of our organization has two elements:

• to educate people through public speaking and elementary-level curriculum about how to be compassionate and inclusive of anyone who has perceived differences than yourself  
• to partner with businesses, retail locations, and organizations nationwide

SEE. STOP. START.™ for learning compassion and inclusion is easy to remember like Stop, Drop, and Roll is for learning fire safety. There are three basic steps:

1. SEE - See people as people first. Recognize them as a fellow human, find similarities, and celebrate differences.
2. STOP - Stop negative thoughts, words, and actions. Stop using negative labels and derogatory comments. 
3. START - Start positive or at least neutral interaction. Being positive is as easy as a smile. Being neutral is as easy as not taking negative action. 

This copyrighted message is framed by an "It Could Be You" concept. The introduction to the SEE. STOP. START.™ message focuses on how "It Could Be You" who is in a different situation. Anyone could have been born into a different situation relative to a disability, race, gender, sexual orientation, or into a family of a different social status, political ideology, or religion. Life experiences can happen at anytime - such as an accident or having a child that has health complications resulting in a physical or mental difference. Before judging, think about how "It Could Be You".  

The conclusion to the SEE. STOP. START.™ message emphasizes that "It Could Be You" who leads by example through changing your own action and creating a more compassionate and inclusive society.  When in a situation with someone you disagree with or that is different than yourself, just take a quick second to think SEE. STOP. START.™ and at least be neutral.
